Project Run & Play Wk.3 Signature Style

This week's challenge was to produce a signature look and while I would love to be making my girl an entire outfit, I don't have quite that much time for fun sewing. Instead I chose to pick a dress that fits my style best. The pattern is The Caroline Party Dress by Mouse House Creations& you can purchase it by VISITING HER SHOP. (affiliate link) I last created a layered holiday dress for my daughter using it and she still calls it her "fanciest dress."

I'm such a sucker for a beautiful floral pattern. I use them quite a bit when creating wardrobes for my daughter. It's something we can agree on (which can be a short list).

I finished piecing the bodice together and felt it needed some emphasis. The last version I created had a contrast collar that gave it pop, but this one seemed just a tad plain.

I didn't want to over-do it and therefore added some simple accent beading. I kept the colors in unison with the original pattern so it looked cohesive. I even added some beading in other area but after stepping back felt they were too much so I pulled them.

I really wanted this dress to stay simple but to feel very elegant and so I lined the bodice with a super soft grey suede and also used it as the pocket material. She especially enjoys it in the pockets as it feels so soft on her hands.

Now for the fit test. I made it in a size 4t width with a 5t length since Lily is quite tall and skinny.

This is lily's quick try on photos of the dress. They convey nicely her feeling for it.

Large smile, princess style curtsy, general glow... yeah that seems to be about right. This girl certainly loves a dress.

  1. Lovely dress, gorgeous fabric. I really like the three different styles of beading all done with the same type of beads. My daughter would flip over that dress. This may sound silly, but I appreciate the realistic background in your last picture!

    1. HA! So funny that I was pulled to "explain" all the junk lying around - like hey guys this is my folded laundry etc and kept telling myself WHY?! I'm so glad I didn't bother cause it's totally real life. Especially my dog chilling right behind her refusing to leave the photos. hehehe Thanks so much Jenn!

    1. Thanks Vonnie! She does really love it and with the suede lining I felt that if she DIDN'T love it, I would squeeze into it and keep it for myself. Or mb just sleep with it at night. ;)
