The first item that caught my eye was the Mimi Dress by Filles a Mamman. It's a knit dress, with a keyhole opening. It had been a little while since I made Lily a knit dress, and she is like many kids and values comfort.
So off I went printing, cutting, taping, and creating her a fun Mimi dress for the fall.
While the dress has some interesting construction- it really makes for a quality piece. There's a facing for the neckline and bottom that keep those areas looking clean- and I really appreciated that I didn't have to hem the bottom. It's certainly not one of my favorite steps for knit fabric. If you aren't use to this method- it may feel a little odd. But continue on, it's well worth trying something new!

Lily is especially happy because last fall I made her a pair of leggings with this fabric and miraculously they still fit. This way- she can wear them all together, which puts a big fat grin on her adorable face.
I really like that the bottom features a fun scoop. It's slightly different from everything else I've seen, and when it's made as a shirt- it looks especially cute. I sewed up a size 6, and even with my tall lady- I believe this dress will fit into next summer (fingers crossed!).
If you're looking for some fun additions to your pattern collection- this is a great deal. Not only do you get some awesome patterns, but you're donating to charity. Little kids are depending on you (no pressure).

How Pattern Parcel Works:
Here at Perfect Pattern Parcel, we believe in supporting independent pattern designers. It’s our opinion that indie patterns are just, well, better than big box patterns, and we’re pretty sure our customers think so too. So, we allow customers to show their support in naming their own price for each Parcel. We also encourage customers to allocate part of their Parcel price to the charity Donorschoose.org in order to help classrooms in need. Pattern Parcel donates all profits after expenses from Parcel sales to the charity as well. Together we've raised over $11,000 for classrooms in need!

ReplyDeleteThank you! I didn't realize how much I'd love it until I pulled it out of the wash, it keeps it's color and stretch really well.
DeleteWow the dress is amazing! Love the fabric!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melanie! I'm nearly to the end of my three yards, which is sad when you find a fabric that works well and you can't buy more. :(
