Hi guys! Last week on k.i.d.s. there were so many awesome kid inspired ideas. I loved watching the children draw something to be created. So, i had lily draw me what her perfect lily style my little pony would be.
It was blue with red hair. Not much more detail that that, I even had to prompt her for eyes lol. That's ok.
I found a really cool plush pony pattern on etsy, its made by eva schiffer. Although I had no clue what I was getting into (neither did my poor husband), I have managed to (almost) finish the darn thing.
It started with 2-3 days of embroidery to make her "lily" cutie mark.
Then it was on to the wings&main body. I had a bit of trouble understanding the directions, but the hubby stepped in and translated for me. Durrr moment
The eyes were a bit of thought and planning. I used freezer paper to draw then in proportion to the ponies head size. Then I cut the largest circle out (where the outer white of the eyes are.) Then, I ironed the paper to my pony& painted it white. After drying I used the circle I had cut out and laid it back in its place. I traced the lines on the paper which left an indent on my dried white paint. I could then lightly sketch the eye and free hand paint the rest of the colors (for me it was blue& black).
I sewed in the hair by folding yarn in half, tying a knot at the fold, threading the two threads onto a thick needle. And pulling it through the wrong side of the fabric. The knot held it from pulling all the way through.
I stuffed her all up& sewed the head to the body.
I do have a little decorative stitching for the wings& also a horn that's stuffed waiting to be attached. It will be difficult since shes been dragging it around with her everywhere.
Has anyone else made plushes? What did you make?
