Oh the weather outside is frightful...
It's been pretty icky weather here, so for the jolly holiday All-Spice I decided to take our photoshoot inside. I'm so excited to create yet another All Spice. I've made quite a few!
Recap? Why, yes!
So me and this dress are on a first name basis. I wanted to push myself to do something different because, well why not?
This version needed to be warm. Everyone in the midwest knows that winter weather is here. Brrr. I actually bought this fabric last year from Fabric.com with intentions to make a coat, but it's really soft and has a fun texture so I felt that it would work well. Another difference from my past versions is the use of a circle skirt. Dana from Dana Made It did a good post giving the directions, which is what I used. Adapting the pattern to use the circle skirt was a breeze. there's no seam, so I simply cut the slit for the placket and attached it following the directions. It makes for a dramatic dress.
Oddly, I haven't used the zipper bodice that's offered with the pattern (yet). I REALLY wanted to try it this time, but when it came to a classic holiday dress, I felt the buttons were an obvious choice.
Speaking of obvious choice, I did a separate tulle underskirt to give it that swirly twirly quality.
Overall, I like this pattern. I've made it four times and I'm still thinking of ways that I could use it. That's definitely a good sign.
Now, if you're feeling jolly sew a holiday All Spice with us! And link it!
