The Polka Dot Dress by Kikoi in Floral

If you have kids you surely have seen the book series "If you give a mouse a cookie..." The same author also writes "If you give a moose a muffin..." and the list goes on...

This morning felt like the mom version of this story& I decided to call it "If you ask your mom a question..."
Why ?
(you may be asking yourself, or not, but lets pretend you are)

Let me tell you! The conversation started like this...

Lily: "Mom, can I put my polly pockets in the basement so Archer won't get them?"

Me: "Well, I really don't want you to keep putting toys into the basement. What you SHOULD do is clean out your cabinet and get rid of toys you don't use so you can put your polly pockets in there."

So the story goes... "If you clean out your cabinet, you will need to find space for the art supplies that are overtaking the cabinet."

Which of course led me to reorganize the art supplies in my hallway closet. That led me to clean out the WHOLE hallway closet that was overtaken by unused shoes. I needed to put those shoes into the garage sale bags. Of course that meant getting rubber bands to keep the pairs together.
The rubber bands were in my silverware drawer that, upon further digging, was a big mess. So I cleaned that drawer out too.

In the end, I have three de-cluttered spaces but sheesh! If you would have told me that from the
get-go, I would have just stuck the polly pockets in the basement.
lol

Now, on to my post!

Today I'm sharing a super cute dress called "The Polkadot Dress" sold by Kikoi on her etsy site
I was lucky enough to get the heads up for a deal she was running. Pin the polka dot dress onto your pinterest board& she would send you the pattern for free.

uhhh? Yep.
So last week I received her dress pattern& sewed it up asap.

Coastal Cargos in Grey

Is anyone else a huge fan of the Blank Slate Patterns by Melly Sews?

Was that a silly question? Of course it is. That chick makes some amazingly detailed patterns.
If you haven't tried them, and you are the type of seamstress who enjoys when some oggles at you while saying "You MADE THAT?!" ... then this is a pattern for you.

It's none other than the Coastal Cargos, which were released for this last spring. (2013)

KCW :: Day 5

I'm going to start this one off with a confession....
If this skirt hadn't taken me like 45 minutes of completely interrupted sewing, then I wouldn't have posted today. That would have stuuuuunk. So, I'm glad I realized my time constraints up front and opted to work on something quick and easy.

So without further blabber, her is the Little Mommy skirt.

KCW :: Day 4

Good evening, hope you all had a productive day... maybe your also sewing for KCW!
(feel free to leave me links to your projects, I love seeing them all!)

Yesterday I didn't post because I had a pattern cut and ready to sew, but the pattern pieces weren't the same as the directions. I've never had that happen before& I got really sad. So, I sucked it up and started hand-stitching a flower girls dress I've been working on. I got quite a bit done, so it wasn't a total loss.

TODAY, I decided, should be epic. & it was pretty epic. I made a great tshirt dress using a pajama pattern I had on hand. I make the tshirt like normal& serged a knit skirt to the bottom. Yep, that easy. I could have gone to buy a pattern but I knew I could work with what I have.

Summer KCW :: Day 3

So I think I was off with yesterday's post... July 15-21 is the challenge. SO, Day 1 would have technically been my cutting, yesterday would have actually been Day 2, and this is Day 3. I thought I was getting a jump start with cutting but apparently not haha. Oh, the mom brain... it never really "ends" when you have the baby now does it? Or at least that's what I keep telling myself!

Summer KCW :: Day 1

Hi!
It's been quite a while as I was on vacation and though I began sewing immediately upon my return, my time to sit down and compile posts is very limited. My husband works long hours during the summer months and the few hours each day that I see him is after the children are in bed. So, I have been enjoying my time with him, heading to bed early, and sewing during nap times. I'm such a busy momma, but sewing isn't a hassle... it's an escape. I simply LOVE it.
